king kong blah dee blah

So I get to work at 10 am. have to check in, show my i.d. and get a colored wrist band so that i may come and go as i please. (my uniform wasn't good enough for some reason) have to pull hundreds of promotional king kong cups and bags onto the floors in addition to over 300 cases (that's 24 to a case) of bottled soda and water. one bottle for each of the 4000 people that would be coming through our doors. there is already a MASSIVE security presence, not to mention plain clothes and uniformed police officers. industry peeps and universal studios reps running around with headset microphones and cell phones and walkie talkies. they are setting up metal detectors on each of the four levels (atleast six to a level).

i'm short on stock team members, so i'm basically hauling all this stuff by myself until i scream at one of my managers to pull a few of the ushers to help me.

THEN i find out that ALL the celebrities are going to the loews across the street. only press and invited fans would be darkening our red carpeted door step.

a ) because in the movie the theatre they use where king kong escapes into new york is the loews theatre

b ) our theatre is so large with more auditoriums and seats per aditorium, that it would make sense for the larger crowd to be sent to us

still kinda bummed me out though. all that hard work, and not one famous face do i get to see. with the exception of the access hollywood dude.

at one point we almost ran out of popcorn. so i had to run up and down stairs (the guests were occupying the passenger elevators and the frieght was turned off for security purposes) with boxes of popping oil over my shoulder and bags of pre-popped popcorn.then, at the end, because all the free cups, bags, and sodas we were giving away needed to be inventoried, i had to re-collect what we didn't use and count and sort them.

and the animatronic king kong was put on time sq. instead of hung from our balcony. amc got the sh*t end of the stick, as usual. but, i guess it was still a fun night. it was chaos but dammit i survived.

my manager is a dumb ass. he didn't know half of what he was talking about, and not only was he confusing the shit outta me, he was confusing himself.

it was hard work and i'm tired. goodnight.
